Ocean Financial Centre

Ocean Financial Centre

Location: Singapore

Completed: 2012

The tropical gardens in the sky at the Ocean Financial Centre were designed within the interstitial spaces between the building structure and façade framing. Creating a connection to the natural environment, the vertical landscaping at the highest floors from the 39th to the 43rd level provides a lush setting. These areas provide much needed relaxation and relief to users who spend most of their time in the artificially ventilated environment of an office building. In response to the hard surface of the structural framing of the building the landscaping provides a contrasting effect softening the lines and creating an intimate experience.

A large carpark had been built to accommodate visitors and tenants at OFC. Its unfortunate location meant that it jarred against the luxurious entrance that had originally been envisioned. Rather than fight the architecture, our designers decided to change the way the carpark was perceived by turning it into a tourist attraction itself, while also working to reduce the carbon footprint that it was creating. Now, the carpark hosts the world’s largest greenwall (now in the Guinness Book of World Records).
