Tangyueh Water Village
Category: Masterplanning | Landscape
Two ecological ‘water axes’ form the backbone of Tangyue’s natural hills that span from the Kylin Lake in the North to the Qi Dong reservoir in the South. Water did not exist on the site originally. However, by discovering the existing flow of water to the agricultural lands on which Tangyue Water Village is situated, the concept of living on a lake was developed. This led to an opportunity for a Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) solution for the luxury villa development and water from the reservoir was channelled into the site to create a large lakeside environment. At ground level, the pedestrianised environment is reserved for the residents as all parking spaces are situated below ground. Bridges, pathways, courtyards and buildings integrate seamlessly with the outdoor spaces. Pavilions overlooking the lake and landscaped surroundings complete a picture of tranquillity for this water village environment.
